ERAU CBREESE 2.0: Summer 2018 (28 June-12 July)

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Convective-Boundary Research Engaging Educational Student Experiences

An educational field project with the Doppler-on-Wheels (DOW) and Mobile Mesonet studying central Florida convection

Funded by the National Science Foundation through the NCAR Earth Observing Lab and the Center for Severe Weather Research

Project objectives:

  • Learn about field data collection and campaigns
  • Learn how to operate the DOW, Mobile Mesonet, and radiosondes; use them to collect real-time data on Florida convection
  • Investigate the relationship of sea/river/bay breezes to central Florida warm-season thunderstorm initiation and maintenance
  • Focus regions: Cape Canaveral, Tampa Bay, Lake Okeechobee
