Recent Updates

As part of my 2024 Fulbright Scholar to Norway award, I recently had the chance to be on a panel during the 2024 EU-US Young Leaders Seminar in Brussels, focusing on the security implications of climate change. This was a great event and opportunity to get more involved with the policy side of climate change! It was refreshing to get out of my science bubble and chat with lots of great policy minds. I was really impressed by all the U.S. and American young leaders and their passion for all things climate change! Below are some pictures from the panel/event, including the reception at the U.S. embassy.

About me

Curriculum Vitae

Born and raised in New York City, I’ve been everywhere, man. After receiving my B.S. in Atmospheric Science at Cornell University in 2002, I attended graduate school at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec from 2003 to 2010, achieving a M.Sc. (2006) and Ph.D. (2010) in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, under the guidance of Dr. John Gyakum and Dr. Eyad Atallah. My M.Sc. thesis focused on the extratropical transition of tropical cyclones, while my Ph.D dissertation analyzed synoptic-scale processes associated with cool-season extreme precipitation events.

After two years as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Kansas (2010-2012), I became an Assistant Professor of Meteorology at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in early 2013 and an Associate Professor in 2019. In addition to my normal teaching, research, and service responsibilities, I have helped lead several storm chasing field courses to the Great Plains and Doppler-on-Wheels thunderstorms observation courses in Florida.

A lifelong NY Giants, San Antonio Spurs, and Syracuse Orange fan, I’ve long understood you can never have enough North Platte margaritas. Once saw Gordon Hayward's shot almost go in.

My teaching interests and responsibilities are in:

  • Synoptic-dynamic meteorology

  • Weather forecasting

  • Severe convection

  • Meteorology fundamentals

  • Aviation weather

  • Climate dynamics
